Today we look at one of the films that inspired our team to produce #TheBeastofTrinityTexas ... Jaws, quite possibly, the greatest summer hit ever made.
Jaws changed the film industry forever; it was the first film to be coined a “Blockbuster” because people lined up around the block of the theater to see it, and it paved the way for future blockbusters like “Star Wars.”
A little movie trivia for you movie buffs out there. George Lucas, creator of Star Wars, visited the polyurethane cast of the 25-foot Jaws while they were building it and told Steven Spielberg, “If you can get half of this on film you’re gonna have the biggest hit of all time.”
The statement was prescient. Lucas then walked over to the gigantic rubber shark and stuck his head inside the jaws while Spielberg actuated its mouth to close it. The mechanics of the creature failed, and George Lucas’ head was stuck in the prop.
We took a lot of inspiration from Jaws - quaint town, a giant #beast haunting its people, a sheriff and his small team up against all odds, and even some design inspiration. Take a look at the posters as The Beast/Jaws looms just out of sight.
We hope you are enjoying the trivia and the lead-up to our film.
